Finding Faith ... in 'Senior Night'

Dads got to enter the locker room before the "Senior Night" game this season.

Carter and the Spuds rolled to 5-0 on the season last night with a 48-0 win over section rival Brainerd at home. Whoop! Whoop!

It was an emotional night as the Spuds celebrated "Senior Night." And there may have been a few tears shed by one unnamed father. ... This has been such a strange season, but I am thankful to the Moorhead coaches and athletics department for keeping the senior tradition in tact as best as possible.

Senior dads even got to go into the locker room before the game with the kids, and that was a cherished moment that I've now gotten to celebrate with both boys. ... I tell ya, there's just nothing like being in the locker room before a high school football game. It's a feeling you never forget.

Incredibly, the Spuds are now the No. 1-ranked team in all of Minnesota high school football, regardless of class, and that includes the big ol' 6A schools in the Twin Cities. And part of the reason is that they've outscored their opponents 223 to 18 in their five games, three of which were shutouts.

Next week, we conclude the regular season with another section rival, Bemidji, here at home in this all-too-brief season. But then onto the playoffs! Trying to soak in every moment and enjoy the gifts we're being given! Roll Spuds!
