Finding Faith ... in adopting and adapting in life

Dear son,

So here we are! ... Your senior football season.

I really can't believe it. It's all gone by so fast. Feels like yesterday that I was walking a nervous little boy out onto the field for his first flag football game. And now look at you! And I am the nervous one!

I know that neither of the last two season were what you pictured them to be. And I wished for so much more for you after last year. But what I am most proud of is how you have responded. You haven't become bitter, and you have concentrated on the things that you can control. And that attitude and self determination is going to get you through a lot of very tough situations in life.

This world of ours throws some might big curve balls at us, but the best way to be successful is to adopt and adapt, and you have already earned a master's degree in that field!

It would take a lot more time and space than this card gives me to share how much I love you and am proud of you. So I'll save that for later.

So for now, I'll just say this: Go out there tonight and live it one minute at a time. Smell and feel the grass. During warmups, take a minute to look around and soak up the stadium and fans. Say thanks to your teammates. And smile!!! :-)

You are getting to play THE GREATEST GAME in the world and that is worth celebrating!

Love,

Dad
