Finding Faith ... in a return to the relaxed summer Wednesday services

By Pastor Devlyn Brooks

Dear Faith Family …

Can you believe that here we are? … It feels like we just came back for Rally Sunday, but here we are, about to enter another summer of Wednesday night services!

I hope that you’ll consider joining us for worship this summer. While our Sunday worships certainly are special, there is a fun and enjoyable vibe about our Wednesday night services that is holy as well!

If you haven’t ever attended one, here’s how it goes down …

We start with a family-style dinner at 6 p.m., which is graciously provided by one of our Faith Lutheran families. And my do we have a great time breaking bread and checking in with each other!

Then about 6:45 p.m. we head upstairs to the Sanctuary for a short, 45 minute-ish worship that is a little looser in nature. We downsize our readings, the number of hymns and shorten up the sermon, all with the goal to get you back on the road by about 7:30 p.m.

One Wednesday per month, we also move worship outdoors, weather permitting of course. Thankfully, Mother Nature has been very cooperative with us the past couple of summers, and we’ve had an awesome time worshiping outside in God’s wonderful creation!

Here’s to seeing you at Wednesday worship this summer, Faith Family! … If you haven’t tried it out yet, please come worship with us!

Faith Forward

Since the last time I wrote to you, our “Faith Forward” committee has met for a second time, and has put in place some of the infrastructure that will be used to guide future “Faith Forward” projects here at Faith Lutheran.

We’ve done the work of identifying what all of our various Faith Lutheran ministries currently host, we’ve set out guidelines as to how to add future events, a few of us have met with the Wolverton City Council to discuss how we can partner in this journey, and we are creating event guidelines to assist anyone who wants to pitch an event to the church.

Oh, and yes, we cannot forget the food truck Tuesdays, arranged by Lisa Keavney, which have been a smash hit! Dozens and dozens of folks have stopped through to the Mexican, Southern soul food and Filipino food trucks that have set up shop in Wolverton.

The effort has been a resounding success, and many people have thanked us for providing an opportunity for folks to come out of their houses and mingle with their neighbors, both near and far. In fact, we’ve seen folks drive to get a bite to eat from as many as 20 miles away!

There are more food trucks scheduled to appear through the summer weeks, and I encourage you to come on out to check out what all the buzz is about! It really is great fellowship!

Finally, there still is room for anyone willing to volunteer on the “Faith Forward” committee if you have a passion to do so! The work of revitalizing our church will take many hands! If you are interested contact the church office or reach out to me!

A couple of quick hits …

What a joyful celebration we had during the cross installation event to honor Pastor Ted Peterson! Truly a beautiful celebration, day and turnout!

May 5, 2024, will be a day to remember in our congregation! We nearly topped 100 people in attendance when we dedicated the cross that is now affixed to the east side of the church and will shine every night as a beacon to Jesus Christ and Faith Lutheran Church Wolverton!

Thank you to the FLC leaders whose work visualized this dream, and then made it happen! Great work Faith leaders!

And also, thank you to all who joined us on Pentecost Sunday to witness the baptism of sweet, little Eddie Colleen Nord as the newest member of our Faith Family! Eddie is the daughter of Luke Nord and Savanna Hill. Welcome to the family of faith, Eddie

Blessings to you this Mayl., Faith Family! ... See you in church!
